South Africa APS Grants Administration (SAAGA)

Prime Implementing Organization:
International Executive Service Corps

VEGA's South African APS Grants Administration (SAAGA) program, manages USAID/South Africa's small grants program in support of the Mission's Market-Driven Employment Generation initiative. In USAID/South Africa's Annual Program Statement (APS), the Mission solicited grant applications from programs with goals to increase employment in South Africa by identifying and developing markets for historically disadvantaged agribusiness and small, medium and micro-enterprises (SMMEs), enhancing their capacity to respond to market opportunities, and increasing their access to finance.

 VEGA's Role

  • Evaluate the applications received in response to the APS;

  • Execute, manage and monitor the grant awards; compile, report and disseminate data that reflects progress toward each grant's targeted results.

VEGA utilizes a combination of SAAGA's South Afric-based management personnel, a South African partner organization, South African business volunteers, US Volunteer Experts (VEs), and a Grant Selection Committee (GSC).
