Spencer King
President & CEO, IESC

Chairman, Spencer KingSpencer King was appointed President and CEO for IESC in October, 2003, having served as Sr. Vice President of Worldwide Business Development since January 2003. Mr. King has more than thirty-five years of experience in international business and development and has managed USAID programs around the globe. Previously, Mr. King spent four years as IESC's Chief of Party in Egypt. In this capacity, he managed $12.3 million in USAID grants and a staff of 70 expatriate and local staff on projects to improve the local technology sector and provide competitive trade development support.

Mr. King has also managed IESC's Technology Initiative for the Private Sector (TIPS) program in Sri Lanka, chaired IESC's Environmental Services Group, and managed Export Trade Services programs as Chief of Party in Jordan. Prior to joining IESC, Mr. King lived in Costa Rica for 18 years, where he served as President for various international trading companies.

He earned a law degree at Tulane University and worked in private practice and on behalf of the State of New Mexico's Consumer Fraud and Securities Commissions. Mr. King has authored articles on trade, investment, competitiveness, and intellectual property rights. Mr. King has been a member of the Advisory Committee on Voluntary Foreign AID (ACFVA) since 2004 and has served on many sub committees including the newly created sub committee for economic growth.
