David O'Connor
President, Aid to Artisans
Mr. David O'Connor has had a long and distinguished career in international economic development, including experience in the private, nonprofit and public sectors and socially responsible enterprise management at a senior level. He has served as Country Director for the Peace Corps in China, Nepal and Moldova. Mr. O'Connor also held leadership roles in Jordan for eleven years in the Noor Al Hussein Foundation and the Ministry of Tourism & Antiquities in projects that were funded by the United States Agency for International Development and the World Bank. For five years, he directed craft programs for Save the Children in Westport, CT.
Mr. O'Connor also has a long relationship with ATA, starting as Executive Director with ATA founders Jim and Mary Plaut when the offices were located in Boston in the early 80's. Mr. O'Connor is enthusiastic about his return to ATA. "I'm pleased and honored to return to Aid to Artisans, an organization I have held in high esteem for many years. I look forward to the challenge of building on the many great successes that have been achieved over the past thirty years."
Mr. O'Connor received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire and a Master of Arts from the School of Advanced International Studies of Johns Hopkins University in Washington, DC. He speaks Nepali, Hindi, French, Romanian, Arabic and English.
