Mr. Abdullah Lebanon Program BeneficiaryAbdallah Attar received a loan through the LIM Program's MFI partner ADR. As a farmer, he needed a tractor to enhance the productivity of his work and increase his overall income. This would allow him to adequately support the eight members of his family who are dependent on him. Therefore, he received a $5,000 loan from the LIM program that allowed him to purchase a tractor and improve the overall quality of living for his family.

Loan Amount: $3,000

Ms. Lillous is an LIM loan beneficiaryHiyam Lallous received a loan through the LIM Program's MFI partner ADR. She aspired to develop her business and earn a better income so she obtained a loan of $3,000 from the LIM Program. The loan she received allowed her to develop her business and expand her restaurant. For example, the grill/oven she purchased with the loan permitted her to increase the overall profitability of her business which then made her capable of offering better support to her six dependents and thus creating better living conditions for all.

Ms. Sayegh is an LIM Loan BeneficiaryGhada Sayegh received a loan through the LIM Project's MFI partner AlMajmoua. It was her need to contribute to her family's income that inspired her to open up her own bakery to produce freshly baked Lebanese "manouche." She wanted to develop her business so she purchased a big supply of raw material after receiving a $1,000 loan from the LIM Program. This loan allowed her to reduce her costs and increase her profit by buying from wholesalers. The loan from the LIM Program has permitted her to expand her business and thus increase its popularity. Ghada's fresh products are sought by the residents of her hometown and tourists looking for authentic Lebanese "manouche." In the future, she wishes to expand her business through the accessibility of microloans.  

 

Name: Sahar Haidan

Loan Amount: $1,000

Sahar Haidan received a loan though the LIM Program's MFI partner AlMajmoua. She is the owner of a gift shop where she sells an assortment of gift items. It was her initial desire to be productive that inspired her to open up her own shop. In order to develop the shop further, she received a loan of $1,000 from the LIM Program to buy additional merchandise such as accessories and perfumes to increase her overall range of products. Her future plans involve her buying more merchandise to diversify the materials in her gift shop.    

 

Name: Faisal Moussa

Sector: Food Industry

Loan Amount: $2,000

Mr. Moussa is an LIM Loan BeneficiaryFaisal Moussa Hassan received a loan through the LIM Program's MFI partner Ameen. After being in the bakery business for over 25 years, Faisal decided to buy his own shop in 2006. Since then, he has worked gradually to improve his business. It was through the LIM Program that he received a loan of $2,000 to buy four cameras for the shop and an espresso machine. He currently employs a team of eight members, four of whom are working day shifts and the other four who are working night shifts. Since his business has grown vastly and has resulted in an increase in employees, he needed to purchase the cameras in order to record the movement in his shop while he wasn't there. The cameras allowed him to adequately protect his savings and growing business while the espresso machine permitted him to expand the offerings of his bakery by giving people the option of having coffee. The two new additions to his business helped him increase the overall income of the bakery. He currently plans on taking a second loan in the future for further reparations and enhancement of his business.

 

Name: Hala Ali Moussawi

Loan Amount: $ 1,500

Ms. Moussawi is an LIM loan beneficiaryHala Ali Moussawi received a loan from the LIM Program's MFI partner Ameen. Since she was a child, she has always been very creative. When she was older she realized her creative passion could be turned into a profitable business. She inherited her father's flower shop ten years ago and has always harbored the desire to develop the shop further. It was her mission to take her shop to the next level that helped her embark on the journey with mircrofinance. It was November 2009 when she received a loan of $1,500 from the LIM Program allowing her to purchase stocks of merchandise in addition to supporting the shop next door that she was renting for her expanding business. Due to the disbursement of the loan, her income can reach around $2,000 a month and on special occasions, such as Valentine's Day and Mother's Day, it's around $5,000. She says her success is due to her ability to connect with people by fostering a network which allows her to adequately reach out and assist people.

 

Name: Safaa Halaby

Ms. Halaby is an LIM loan beneficiarySafaa Halaby received a loan from the LIM Program's MFI partner AlMajmoua. Safaa was able to open her shop after receiving $2,000 loan from AlMajmoua, through the LIM Program. It was through this loan that Safaa was able to purchase raw material and expand her business. She now successfully employs two other women as well as two part time workers. The loan has allowed for the popularity of Safaa's pickles to grow and they are now known for their quality and good taste amongst not only her friends, but also the people living in her area. The $2,000 LIM loan Safaa received through AlMajmoua has allowed her to seize the opportunity to open up her own shop after operating her business from home. 

 

Name: Nabiha Al Mjaber

Loan Amount: $1,000

Ms. Majaber is an LIM loan beneficiaryNabiha Al Mjaber was compelled to work in order to feed and sustain her family after the death of her husband. She started working from home and producing market provisions such as rose water which involves a skillful distillation process to produce a high quality product demanded by the market. As a result, she obtained a loan of $1,000 from the USAID Funded, VEGA LIM Program, through the program partner Ameen. This loan allowed her to purchase raw material, pomegranate, and flowers. Thanks to the loan she received, Nabiha was able to buy the raw materials, enhance her production, increase her sales income needed to maintain her home based business, and allowed her to support her family. Nabiha has been involved in this business for over 10 years and the products she sells help her earn a better living and properly take care of her children.

Five women applied for the LIM Loan Program as a groupFive married women who have benefited from the LIM Program through AlMajmoua group loan for women are Amal, Lilian, Janiah, Izdihar, and Amale. This specific loan is recognized for its flexibility and sustenance facilities for women who apply as a group. These ladies took the initiative to be productive in hopes of improving their living conditions. It was their need to be express their creativity and lead more active lifestyles that inspired them to tackle their challenging economic and domestic conditions. The loans varied between $500 and $700 and were adapted to each of the 5 ladies' specific entrepreneurship needs and payment capabilities. The loans disbursed were successful in helping the women in the Christine Group prove their capabilities by providing them with the opportunity to move forward and improve the quality of their lives.
