James G. Lykos, Senior Business Advisor
Adviser James G. Lykos worked as a Sales Team Trainer for Population Services International (PSI) in Kigali, Rwanda, where he conducted an assessment of the PSI/Rwanda sales force with an international team, consolidated and redesigned the distribution system for all PSI Rwanda products from 2,000 to 10 locations. He also created a sales reporting system for five products, five regions and over 4,000 points of sale, and earlier served as a Research Associate for the South Carolina Export Consortium, where he created a report of the global fuel cell market and worked with a research team detailing the international landscape in fuel cell development. James is also a former Peace Corps volunteer in Georgia, where he directed the ECO Project, a small ecological program involving 300 participants and three organizations. He also planned and administered civil society strengthening projects targeted at youth development, and founded the Student Women’s Alliance Network, involving 100 women in seven cities.
James earned a B.A. in International Relations and English from Rhodes College and an M.A. in International Relations from the University of South Carolina. In 2008, James joined VEGA as a volunteer to assist in the Long Term Business Adviser program with USAID Armenia- a program that was established in 2004 and has been led by implementing organization, The Institute for Internal Education (IIE). While in Armenia, will work with host organization: The American Chamber of Commerce - Armenia.
Goals & Responsibilities
As a Senior Adviser, James G. Lykos will: develop, rally support for and implement a strategy to encourage the government of Armenia to improve the current business environment, facilitating rapid, sustainable and equitable economic growth. To achieve this mission, James will:
- Prepare briefing papers, press statements, presentations, articles and other on policy issues for AmCham Board, Officers and members,
- Outreach to government, the diplomatic community, industry associations etc and the private sector on policy issues of importance to AmCham,
- Assist in the development and implementation of a strategy to influence the government on selected policy issues,
- Strengthen the creation of additional value for new/potential members,
- Write an Annual Report draft table of contents and action plan,
- Create a PR/Marketing action plan, personnel action plan, membership revenue calculator, membership surveys measuring AmCham performance, and business environment concerns and
Overall organizational assessment.
